The renovation works have safeguarded the original footprint of the building and its relationship with the outdoor areas: the environmental quality of the garden and the courtyard as the essence of the entire complex. These have withstood the ravages of time and stylistic variation, still representing an expression of principles founded on the relationship between truth and beauty. It was important to safeguard the architectural qualities of the building, modifying as little as possible of its consolidated image. On the exterior, small modifications have been carried out that have renewed the architectural image according to the criteria of functional needs and stylistic essentiality, without accentuating the shape and materials of the new elements required for the current purpose. The elegance of the original façade design is moderated in the juxtaposition of the salvaged historical elements that as fragments are distributed on each level, characterizing the whole façade. This procedure was used as a reference to draft the new remodelling proposal, thereby ensuring historical continuity of the interventions, which were meaningful to the image of the building.
The original building elevates to five floors above ground and is designated to office use, in addition to two underground floors mainly used to house garages, archives and service plants. The project, using non-invasive solutions and technologies, has preserved the integrity of how the distinctive setting and actual building of the Castelli Visconti di Modrone Palace are perceived and in this renewed context, the clientele of the Bank encounter a special and unique quality visitor experience. It is situated in an unexpected setting of great beauty and its collocation within a
consolidated cityscape preserves it from contaminations and short-lived trends. The design concept, as envisaged and delivered, enhances the spatial quality of the volumes, ensuring they maintain those traits of reception and privacy for the clientele of the bank, expanding the presence of landscaped areas on the various levels of the building.
